Who Gives A Crap?

… we do! We ALL use toilet paper, and for once it’s quite exciting and poetic. Our Who Gives a Crap toilet paper is a soft paper made without trees (because trees are for Koala hugging).  So much more than a square to wipe you derriere with, Who Gives a Crap donates 50% of profits to help build toilets for those in need – now that’s a meaningful flush.

Gift Bags – Recyclable

Are you considering a gift for your fellow eco-warrior friend or partner? You can walk out of Bat Your Lash boutique with your precious cargo inside a recyclable paper bag (no plastic here). We probably don’t have to tell you this, but the paper is made out of wood; a completely natural material that is entirely biodegradable and recyclable. Yep, the paper has repurposed at least seven times, and even when it’s totally at the end of its run, the waste is non-toxic (yippee).

The Better Packaging Co

Once upon a time, we sent our products to you in …*whisper* plastic satchels. This felt innately uncomfortable to the point that we had to find a better solution or cease our online shop (not. an. option). Fast track countless hours of research, and we now use comPOST bags from Better Packaging Co (thank goodness). When you receive one from us, you may immediately think, “Gee, they feel and behave exactly like plastic’. They do, expect they will degrade with no toxic residues making each it a suitable lunch for the worms in your compost bin.

You have ordered a little gift from our online shop, and sigh with relief when it arrives in a compostable satchel, cushioned by Ranpacks environmentally responsible packaging material. Yep, move over bubble wrap – a new kid is in town, and it’s made from recyclable material, and is biodegradable, leaving this earth just the way we found it.

Easydry & Big Towel Company

Pat dry your hands on the Multi award-winning disposable towels from our good friends at Easydry and Big Towel Company. We have eliminated the need for laundry; we avoid consuming vast amounts of water and energy to wash and dry hundreds of cotton towels by replacing them with luxury, hygienic and environmentally friendly towels.  We have also put a stop to detergents, bleaches and cleaning chemicals being flushed down the drain and into the environment too.

Our towels are made exclusively from natural, wood-based fibres that break down entirely in compost conditions within 12 weeks.

LED is our sustainable solution over UV! How? The LED lamp will cure a layer of gel polish in 30 seconds, which is a lot quicker than the 2 mins under a UV lamp (and they do the same job), which conserves energy (whoo!) And how many beauticians does it take to change a light bulb? None – with LED, our bulbs have a 50,000-hour life expectancy, so we never have to burn through globes or create glass wastage. When it comes to the health of our clients, LED also protects them from the harmful cell changes UV rays have been known to encourage.

Bamboo is the latest buzz word when it comes to materials – but there is a reason why this miracle plant is so highly raved about.  Compared to pine trees, which grow a meter per year, the bamboo plant grows a meter in 24 hours! Harvesting bamboo is a sustainable deforestation, where a new plant is seeded and fully regrown in the same week. After these revelations, its no wonder eco-manufactures went on to create cups, bags, underwear, and lucky for us, mascara wands and cotton buds!

When we are finish with a wand, we place it in our compost. The materials are 100% biodegradable, becoming nutrients for our garden flora.

All this is lovely…but

How plastic decomposes in comparison to landfill

We have three bins; one for paper, plastic and metal. After every treatment, we dispose the solutions and materials, so that they can be given a second chance of life and repurposed into new products.
