What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent extensions that look and feel just like the real thing. Unlike fake strip lashes, each individual fibre is attached to your natural eyelash one by one.

It can be very confusing for those looking to get lash extensions for the first time on where to go and what a perfectly applied full set is supposed to look and feel like.

At the moment the market is flooded with new salons offering cheap and quick 'full' sets, especially with those cheap internet deals that pop up. But what you save in money, you will often end up paying for in poorly or scantily applied extensions as well as potential damage to your natural lashes. A lot of salons are using extensions that are way too thick and heavy for your natural lashes, their reason for this is to achieve a thick 'looking' lash line in minimal time. They are simply cutting corners. After a couple of days these extensions start to droop, hang down and feel uncomfortable and irritating. We have been in this business since 2007 and many times have had to remove re-do work that was originally completed at salons that use cheap and nasty products along with staff who are not properly qualified or simply have not had enough practice.

How long will my extensions last?

Bat Your Lash eyelash extensions will last the life of your natural lash. The average cycle life of each natural lash is 6 - 8 weeks. When a natural lash falls it is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. At any given moment, your natural eyelashes are at different stages of their life cycle. Eyelashes are required to be refilled (extensions topped up) to replenish the lashes that have completed their life cycle. Bat Your Lash recommends its clients return every 2 to 4 weeks for refills.

What are they made of?

Acrylic fibres. Bat Your Lash first began with silk lashes but we found that these, when exposed to extreme heat, would lose their curl totally. Our acrylic lashes are extremely light!

What do they look like?

They look just like your natural lashes only longer, thicker and black- depending on which extension you choose.

All lashes by Bat Your Lash are INDIVIDUAL. Yes, this means one by one- no bulbs with 3 or 4 lashes attached like I have seen around.

In THICKNESS we stock: 0.15mm (thin) & 0.20mm (thick)
In LENGTH we stock: 9mm (very short), 10mm (short), 11mm, 12mm (medium), 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm (long), 17mm, and 18mm (extremely long).
In CURL we stock: C curl (extra curl- most popular), J curl (more of a natural look).

Is it safe?

Yes! Completely, no extension or glue is ever attached to your skin. Extensions are only ever attached to your own natural lashes. I also use only the best professional medical grade glue which comes in strong or sensitive.

Could I possibly have an allergic reaction to the glue?

It is possible- but quite uncommon to have a reaction. Glue never touches your skin. The extensions are attached one by one to your own natural lashes. If you are worried about having a reaction we can start you off with the sensitive glue and slowly introduce the stronger glue over time. First time clients generally choose the stronger glue because it has a 6 week hold compared to only 3 weeks with the sensitive glue.

The highest percentage of reactions to the glue are more so common amongst clients with very very sensitive skin and who suffer from hay fever.

How do they feel when wearing them?

So light you can't feel them.

How many eyelashes will I receive?

Between 45 to 65 lashes on each eye (depending on how many eyelashes you have to work with). Clients who have very sparse eyelashes will still get amazing results. In this case sometimes two eyelashes will be attached to the one lash to achieve maximum results. I recommend clients with sparse eyelashes choose the natural eyelashes over the thick ones so that two lashes can be applied to one of their lashes to create the effect of a full lash line. Applying two thick lashes to one eyelash sometimes can be too much for the lash to hold depending on the condition of the clients eyelashes.

How long does it take?

It takes 90 minutes to attach a full set and 50-60 for refills.

Can I wear Mascara?

You will not need to. The main reason my clients love their extensions is that there is no need to mess around with mascara anymore. At the point when you start to think you need them thickened with mascara is the point at which you should be getting them refilled to thicken them up. If you do apply mascara- the extensions tend to stick together and look messy. Any makeup caught in the extensions needs to be removed before bed with an OIL-FREE makeup remover.
